The family of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has decided not to use government facilities while presenting the image. Vajpayee’s family has refused to take government services such as security and housing for the families of former Prime Ministers. The family says that she is capable of raising her own expenses, so she does not want to burden the government treasury in vain.
According to sources, the family members of Vajpayee wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office giving information about this. They say that they do not need these facilities. That is why they do not want to burden the government in vain.
Vajpayee’s family includes his adoptive daughter Namita, son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya and Panti Niharika and other members. Vajpayee’s family lived with him in the official residence situated on Krishna Menon Road in Lutyens Zone of the capital. However, now the family has decided to leave the house.
It is notable that the families of the former prime ministers get various types of government facilities, including SPG protection. At present, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda have got these facilities. Similarly, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s family, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and current Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have also received special facilities for the families of former PM, especially SPG security.
By the way, the former Prime Minister gets SPG protection for one year after leaving the post, but through this amendment, the law clearly made it clear that if there is a threat to the family of a former prime minister, then it can continue to be SPG protection. The result of this change was that Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka are getting SPG protection till death.
It is notable that all former Prime Ministers include lifetime free housing, free medical facilities, government staff, domestic airline tickets, free travel by train, office expenses for five years and SPG security.
