Another big company in Russia, which makes defense equipment, has reached close to achieving a big defense deal in India. The Russian company Rosoboronexport has made the lowest bid in the tender for the purchase of short-range air defense missile system for the Indian Army i.e. L1. Government sources informed about it on Monday.
Apart from the Russian company, the bidders included Sweden’s SAAB and France’s military firm MBDA. Sources said that all valid procedures were followed in the bid. The minimum bidder will be announced in a day or two. Indian Army is buying 100 missile systems.
Sources said that if Rosoboronexport succeeds in getting this contract, this will be the first case of a major contractual contract from a Russian company after the S 400 Air Defense deal. The agreement between India and Russia for the S-400 Air Defense Missile System was last month.
